Tips for Board Care
-
No Dishwashers!
One of the easiest steps is NOT to clean your wooden product in the dishwasher. The combination of hot water and steam will cause any natural protective finish to be washed away. Repeated exposure to these conditions increases the potential for your item to crack, warp and more.
-
Handwash & Lean to Dry
Handwash your wooden product using a soft sponge with warm water and a little dish soap. Rinse thoroughly and lean your item upright so both sides can dry evenly.
-
Regularly Oil and Condition
Make sure to use a food safe wood conditioner for this step. With a soft cloth or paper towel, apply a small amount of conditioner evenly to your board. Allow conditioner to cure for at least one hour. Use a soft cloth to buff the conditioner into the board using a circular motion. The conditioner provides a thin protective coat for your board. We recommend applying it every two months.
Regularly applying conditioner will help prevent splintering in your board. This is especially important for the exotic Wenge wood.

Deep Cleaning
A combination of a lemon and salt is used for deep cleaning. Roll a lemon on the counter while applying gentle and even pressure to allow more lemon juice to be released. Cut the Lemon in half, widthwise. Lightly sprinkle salt onto the board. With a circular motion, rub the halved lemon on the salted board. Let the released lemon juice and salt rest on the board for a couple minutes. Rinse the board with warm water, pat dry and lean your board upright so both sides can dry.
Disclaimer for the exotic types of woods used
Our most commonly used exotic woods are Padauk, Bubinga, Wenge, Zebra, Canary and Purple Heart. Just like Walnut, with its slight chance of a reaction for people with nut allergens, there is a small chance for people to have some irritant issues with the Exotic woods.
